INVESTMENT ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST – MANAGED SERVICES
About ARTIFFEX
ARTIFFEX automates investment bookkeeping by converting complex, fragmented investment data into structured, reliable financial information. We work with accounting firms and family offices managing multi-entity portfolios where precision, efficiency, and consistency truly matter.
The business is scaling quickly, and our goal is to ensure that delivery quality scales with it.
Role Overview
This is a production-critical role inside the Managed Services team. Leverage the ARTIFFEX automation platform to take incomplete and inconsistent investment data and turn it into clean, reconciled, tax compliant outputs.
Core Responsibilities
- Own the preparation and reconciliation of investment accounting files across entities holding marketable securities.
- Interpret and process transactions including purchases, sales, income, transfers, and corporate actions.
- Identify and resolve breaks across positions, book values, gains and losses, and cash.
- Work through incomplete or inconsistent source data and arrive at defensible outcomes.
- Deliver files on schedule and in line with internal quality standards.
- Document adjustments, assumptions, and resolutions clearly.
- Escalate edge cases with context and proposed direction.
- Operate within structured workflows designed for scale.
- Contribute to reducing repeat issues and improving system output over time.
Required Profile
- 3 to 6 years of experience in investment accounting, portfolio reconciliation, fund accounting, or similar environments.
- Direct exposure to marketable securities.
- Strong understanding of how accounting principles apply to investment activity.
- Ability to handle imperfect data without losing control of the outcome.
- Strong Excel capability and comfort working with large datasets.
- Fast learner in system-driven environments.
- High personal accountability with minimal need for supervision.
- Clear written and verbal communication in English and French.
- Comfort operating within structured processes and defined workflows.
Strong Advantages
- Experience in an accounting firm, family office, wealth management operation, or fund administrator.
- Exposure to custody data, portfolio reconciliation, or securities back-office workflows.
- Experience with investment income, gains and losses, and tax reporting.
- Hands-on experience using the ARTIFFEX platform.
Performance Profile and Work Environment
This role suits someone who handles volume without loss of accuracy, moves across multiple files without waiting for direction, and works through ambiguity with sound judgment rather than escalating too early. Standards are maintained under pressure and fixed deadlines, with a focus on identifying error patterns and reducing recurrence over time. The work is approached with ownership of the file and its outcome, not as a series of tasks. The environment is structured and demanding, with four days per week in office, deadlines tied directly to client delivery, and peak periods that require sustained focus and responsiveness.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role is defined by consistent, high-quality delivery. Files are completed on time with minimal rework, and reconciliation issues are identified early and resolved thoroughly. Within the first 60 to 90 days, a strong command of internal systems and workflows is established. The ability to manage multiple files independently becomes standard, with a noticeable reduction in recurring errors and exceptions over time.
Growth
Strong performers take on increasingly complex files early and expand their scope based on demonstrated capability. Progression into senior specialist and team leadership roles is driven by output, reliability, and ownership.
Compensation
Base salary: $75,000 to $85,000. Performance-based compensation may apply.
Why ARTIFFEX
At ARTIFFEX, culture is defined by precision, continuous improvement, and a strong focus on client outcomes. The work sits at the intersection of accounting and data, where complexity is expected and clarity is earned.
Team members are exposed early to sophisticated, multi-entity investment structures and are trusted to contribute meaningfully to client deliverables. There is a shared standard around quality, accountability, and execution, with an environment that supports growth through real responsibility. As the company scales, the focus remains on building a team that values rigour, consistency, and the discipline required to deliver reliable results.
